Nokia takes on Apple.. the battle begins

Technology is the form of convergence, all latest gadgets are a conglomeration of different unique features. Now people don't want to carry multiple gadgets, and this is where comes the need for sleek and multifeatured devices. From MP3 in cell phone to camera or even video camera. Cell phones have come a long way but what about those gadgets which are specially made for these features, like the iPod for music? This is a long debate and a question for the cell phone and iPod users. Will they choose their cell phone for music and calling, or their favorite iPod for that ultimate storage? Certainly a million dollar question, isn't it?
With the rumors of new iPhone, seems Apple's iPod, the kaiser of MP3 players, might be smelling some kind of competition. And the advent of latest phones of Nokia makes it more visible, how iPod can really find a tough time. It seems a techno battle between the iPod and Nokia. If one is a czar of cellphones then the other is the sultan of music players. Both are the absolute rulers of there respective fields.

Motorola had tried to combine iTunes in ROKR , which just could not work. Though the phone had various features including the iTunes but Motorola couldn't encash on those features. Now you can even get iTunes in Motorola RAZR series, which allows a free iTunes download. But only iTunes cannot make any crappy phone a hit, the mantra is to combine best gadgets to get a good output. Moreover, iTunes is not what iPod is all about. iPod can be your single storage device where you can store all your music and personal data.

Nokia has almost enthralled all music lovers with its N-series phones. In this, N91 is the most selling phone because of its music storage. These mini comp phones are sureshot winners in multifeatured phones. It has a 4 gig harddrive, dedicated controls (which slide down to reveal a keypad), a remote, and it plays protected Windows Media files, and AACs (though not music purchased at the iTunes Store). You can even transfer your MacBook Pro data to your N91 phone. Nokia provides an OS X app called The Nokia Music Manager which allows you to transfer songs from iTunes to your phone.
This is why the iPhone rumors are so persistent, If Nokia can give a little of competition to Apple then it will sure come up with the iPhones. Till then, all geeks are busy speculating about Apples new impresa.
